Scene of the Aftermath

Images from the scene show the extent of the damage to Odhiambo’s white Audi A5 coupe. The vehicle sits motionless on the edge of a raised concrete kerb, surrounded by debris and fluid leaks on the tarmac.

The front end of the car has sustained severe "V-shaped" crumpling. The bonnet is buckled upwards, completely exposing the radiator and various internal engine components.

On the front-right side, the impact was so intense that the bumper has been almost entirely ripped away.

The right-hand headlight assembly is shattered, leaving a dark, hollow cavity in the bodywork. Fragments of the grill and plastic trim hang precariously near the front tyre, which appears slightly misaligned from the force of the hit.

The Hidden Danger of Driver Fatigue

While specific police reports for this incident were not in the sources, road safety data often highlights the peril of driving while tired.

Information not from the sources suggests that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in Kenya frequently warns motorists about fatigue.

According to global road safety statistics, driving after being awake for 17 to 19 hours can produce impairment levels similar to a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05%.

In Kenya, the festive season and the New Year period typically see a spike in road traffic accidents. The NTSA has previously reported that human error, including fatigue and speeding, accounts for over 90% of road accidents in the country.
