A video of Citizen TV newsreader Trevor Ombija receiving a solemn prayer has ignited a firestorm of speculation across social media platforms.
The footage, posted on Ombija’s TikTok page, shows the broadcaster in a deeply spiritual moment, leading many to believe he is preparing for a political debut in the 2027 General Elections.
Rumours are currently rife that Ombija is eyeing the Member of Parliament seat for the Nyakach constituency.

A Solemn Moment in Yellow
The video provides a vivid look at the encounter. Ombija is seen standing outdoors on uneven, rocky ground in front of what appears to be an unfinished brick building.
He is dressed in a crisp white shirt paired with a dark navy waistcoat and matching trousers.

His hands are clasped respectfully behind his back as he bows his head in silence.
Facing him is a clergyman adorned in a striking, floor-length yellow robe. The minister's sleeves feature colourful cuffs, and he holds his right hand firmly atop Ombija’s head while delivering the prayer.
Concerns Over the 'Crown'
While some viewed the moment as a blessing, a significant portion of the audience expressed concern over the physical nature of the prayer.
Many followers advised the newsreader to protect his "glory" and "star" from being interfered with by the laying on of hands.

"Don't ever let people touch your crown like that,” said @berylatieno605
Username @Janey shared her personal stance, saying, “Ni Mimi Tu sipendi kuguzwa Kichwa?... That's my glory”.
Similarly, @deaniceondu warned, “Don't allow anyone to touch your head while praying, they're impacting spirits in you."
Another user, @Mamake Brevil, told him bluntly, “usikubali kushikwa kichwa tena” (don’t let your head be touched again).
Warnings about spiritual theft were common, with @aggy_joshua telling him, “Chunga nyota isiende” (guard your star) and @JUDY SOO OFFICIAL claiming he might have his "star" stolen during such acts.
The Road to Nyakach 2027
The political undertones of the video were not lost on viewers. Many commenters openly addressed Ombija as the future representative for Nyakach.
@LuoNam OkaloAyora called him “the best bet for Nyakach,” while @Wuod Nyar Nyakach posted that it would be “MP 2027 Ombija direct.”
