A touching video of the late gospel musician Betty Bayo expressing deep admiration for her husband, Hiram “Tash” Gitau, has resurfaced online — offering a heartfelt contrast to the tensions that have unfolded since her passing.
The clip, now circulating widely, captures Betty speaking candidly about the joy she found in her marriage and the difference between simply being married and being truly happy in marriage.
“I Am Happily Married” — Betty’s Words to Tash
In the video, Betty reflects on what made her relationship with Tash stand out.
“I am married; so many people are married, but it’s rare to find people who are happily married. Those are two totally different things. You can be married, and you can be happily married. So I am happily married,” she said.

She explained that what she valued most was the freedom to be her authentic self. Betty shared that Tash embraced her without expecting her to change who she was or present a polished version of herself.
“According to me, when you marry your best friend, you don’t have to be what you are not. You are real, you don’t fake. You don’t do makeup all the time. He loves you the way you are. He loves me just the way I am as a kienyeji. He doesn’t force me to be anyone else. He just embraces who I am, and every day we take it a day at a time,” she said warmly.
“We Married in 2021” — Betty Confirmed Their Union
In a second video, Betty firmly clarified that her relationship with Tash was not informal, insisting that he had followed the necessary steps to officially join her family.
“It’s marriage, not partnership. Ameenda kwetu and it’s official. There is no one else who has ever gone to our home. He has gone through those steps — it’s not like we are in a relationship. We got married in 2021; now we are in 2023,” she stated.
Her remarks dispel the claims that the two were merely cohabiting or in a casual arrangement.

A Marriage Remembered Amid Rising Family Conflict
These videos have resurfaced at a time when Betty’s family is locked in a highly publicised dispute with her widower.
Betty passed away on 10 November 2025 at Kenyatta National Hospital, where she had been receiving treatment for an aggressive form of leukaemia.
Her death has since sparked emotional reactions from fans and family members — and triggered a series of allegations, demands, and painful revelations.
Shortly after her burial in Kiambu’s Mugumo Estate, tensions erupted when her brother, Edward Kang’ethe Mbugua, claimed the family had not been informed of the seriousness of her illness soon enough. He also raised concerns about her living conditions.

The situation escalated further when Betty’s mother, Joyce Wairimu, accused Tash of failing to officially marry her daughter — an accusation contradicted by Betty’s own words in the newly resurfaced videos.
Wairimu later demanded that Tash hand over custody of her grandchildren and has publicly insisted that an autopsy and possible exhumation be carried out to determine the true cause of death.
Amid these tensions, Pastor Victor Kanyari, Betty’s ex-husband and father of her children, urged Tash to honour Wairimu’s wishes “to avoid inviting a curse,” adding yet another emotional layer to the ongoing family discord.
