Actor Bilal Wanjau , widely known in the industry by his stage name @webster_jnr and popularly referred to as Afande Kasoro, was laid to rest on 5th December in an emotional ceremony held at his rural home in Machakos County.
The burial took place just a day after his passing was publicly announced, drawing close friends, colleagues, and family members who gathered to pay their final respects to the celebrated performer.
Passing Announced by Sandra Dacha
Bilal’s death was made public in the early hours of Thursday, November 4, 2025, through a social media announcement by actress Sandra Dacha.In her statement, Dacha indicated that the actor died from complications related to diabetes.

“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing on of my colleague @webster_jnr this early morning due to diabetes complications. Bilal was a GREAT TALENTED ACTOR! We’ve lost one of the best in the industry,” she wrote.
The announcement quickly captured the attention of the film and theatre community, prompting widespread expressions of grief.
Details on the Cause of Death
According to Dacha, the health complications leading to Bilal’s death began with a small wound on his leg that appeared a year ago.
The wound repeatedly reopened instead of healing fully, a situation worsened by his underlying diabetes. This difficulty in healing forced the actor to rely on a crutch or walking stick in recent months.
Dacha explained that on Sunday, while in Machakos, Bilal experienced difficulty breathing and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

Medical staff managed to stabilize him, but his blood sugar levels were reported to be at 11, significantly higher than the recommended 3–4 range.
Despite the medical intervention, Bilal’s condition continued to deteriorate. Dacha revealed that he succumbed the following night.

Funeral Arrangements and Burial
Following the confirmation of his death, preparations for the burial began immediately. The family scheduled the final rites for Friday, December 5, 2025, at the family’s home in Machakos County.
Dacha further confirmed the arrangements in her statement, urging the public to keep the family in their prayers during this difficult time.
While no additional information was provided regarding public viewing or memorial services, the burial proceeded as planned, with the focus remaining on the interment ceremony.
