The Road to Record-Breaking Speed
The athlete's personal breakthrough coincided with a massive leap in his professional career. Omanyala, who is the Fastest Man in Africa, was invited onto the Lessons at 30 podcast as a record breaker.
His journey to becoming a world-class sprinter was detailed on the show. Omanyala initially loved and played rugby, describing it as his "first love" in sport.
He excelled at rugby, scoring tries in virtually every school game and even receiving a call-up for trials for the Kenyan Under-20 rugby team.
His transition to track came in 2016, the same year he met his partner. A friend insisted he try athletics, noting the speed he displayed whilst playing rugby. Omanyala initially treated the switch as a "trial and error".

In 2021, which he calls his breakthrough year, Omanyala cemented his status by breaking the African 100-metre record. He ran a time of 9.77 seconds, a record that had stood for 15 years.
This incredible performance places him among a very elite group: Omanyala confirmed that globally, "only 10 people in the world have ever run that fast or faster".
His partner's supportive presence has been a constant throughout his professional life, which began to truly accelerate around the time they met.
Omanyala noted that despite the high expectations and pressures of competing, he has handled his fame maturely, choosing to ignore outside negativity.
