Burna Boy is a one-man hurricane. To his die-hard supporters, he’s the most electrifying live act on the continent. To critics, he’s unpredictable, fiery, and sometimes downright confrontational.
His latest incident happened during the opening night of his No Sign of Weakness tour at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Mid-performance, Burna Boy spotted a man and his girlfriend dozing off. He immediately stopped the music, pointed them out, and demanded they be removed before he resumed the show.
The stunned crowd watched as the couple was escorted out — and the clip went viral within minutes.

The Time Burna Boy Called Kenyans “Peasants”
Burna Boy’s temper hasn’t only shown up on stage, it has spilled online too. Back in 2017, the Grammy winner caused an uproar in Kenya after a chaotic Nairobi gig where he arrived late and performed briefly.
When fans complained on social media, Burna fired back, calling Kenyan critics “peasants” and threatening to “block the whole city.”
The backlash was so intense that he later refused to appear for a TV interview after being told he was going to be asked about the remark.
To this day, many Kenyan fans still reference that moment whenever Burna Boy trends.
The Seven-Hour Delay in Lagos, Nigeria (January 2023)
This remains one of Burna Boy’s most infamous clashes with his own fans.
Thousands had been waiting since 9 p.m. for the star, but Burna didn’t appear until 3 a.m. — a seven-hour delay that ignited boos the moment he hit the stage.
Instead of apologizing, he shocked the audience with: “If you like no love me, na God punish you.”
He also claimed he almost didn’t perform and only appeared out of respect for a colleague. Fans were outraged, and the controversies trended for days. Burna later doubled down on Instagram, saying he had PTSD and urging fans never to run onto his stage.
The Diamond Ring Incident in Lusaka, Zambia (2019)
What was meant to be a high-energy Burna Boy night quickly turned chaotic in Lusaka when a fan allegedly reached for his hand — supposedly attempting to snatch his diamond ring. Burna reacted instantly, kicking the fan before security rushed in.
He then ordered the fan removed from the venue, even refunding his ticket in cash before saying, “Oya go home, go home,” as the crowd cheered wildly.

The “Moody Fans” Call-Out – Atlanta, USA (2019)
During a U.S. show, Burna Boy paused mid-song after noticing two fans who looked less than impressed with his performance. He proceeded to call them out in front of the entire venue, accusing them of dulling the vibe.
Burna Boy later explained that anyone who stands in front at his concerts must match his energy otherwise, they can move to the back. In his words, the front row is “strictly for the die-hard fans.”
The Hug Gone Wrong – Lagos, Nigeria (2021)
A Lagos fan learned the hard way that Burna Boy does not appreciate uninvited physical contact. During a 2021 December concert, an excited man jumped on stage and reached for a hug. Security and Burna reacted almost simultaneously, shoving the fan back into the crowd.
The incident sparked online debate, but Burna defended himself, saying sudden stage invasions trigger his anxiety and violate his personal space.

The Greater Lagos Countdown Clash – Lagos, Nigeria (January 2025)
At another Lagos concert, a fan suddenly charged toward the stage. Burna Boy reacted immediately, kicking the fan before storming off. He ended the show early, telling critics afterward that safety is non-negotiable — even if it costs him goodwill.
He later said the show was free, claiming he performed longer than required, though attendees disputed the claim.
