The Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC) has invited qualified Kenyans to apply for the top position.
According to a notice published on Friday, applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a university degree from a recognised institution and at least 10 years of professional experience.
Candidates must also have served in a managerial position for a minimum of six years in either the public or private sector.
All applicants are required to meet the leadership and integrity standards outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
However, several factors render candidates ineligible.
These include having held office or stood for election as a Member of Parliament or County Assembly within the last five years, serving on a political party’s governing body, holding any State office, or having been a candidate for political office.
Individuals who are undischarged bankrupts or who have been removed from office for violating the Constitution or any law are also disqualified.
Some political disqualifications lapse after two general elections have been held since the individual last held such a position.
The Chairperson’s role carries a single, non-renewable six-year term, is full-time, and prohibits holders from engaging in any other gainful employment.
Remuneration and benefits will be set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Applicants must submit a detailed curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic and professional certificates, a national ID or passport, and other relevant testimonials.
Applications should be clearly marked “Application for the Position of the Chairperson, Public Service Commission” and addressed to:
The Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, PO Box 62345–00200, Nairobi.
Submissions can be delivered by hand to Harambee House, Third Floor, Room 306, sent by post, or emailed to [email protected] with scanned and certified documents attached.
The panel will publish the names of all applicants and interview schedules in the Kenya Gazette, on the PSC website, and in two daily newspapers after the application deadline.
Shortlisted candidates must present original documents and valid clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, EACC, CRB, and DCI during interviews.
The successful nominee will undergo vetting by the National Assembly as required by law.
Applications must reach the Selection Panel no later than Friday, November 28, 2025, at 5 pm.
Women, persons with disabilities, minorities, and marginalised groups are encouraged to apply.
