In the days following gospel singer Betty Bayo’s passing, her loved ones have been reflecting on the life she lived — and the dreams she had for her daughter, Sky Victor.

Though her journey was cut short by leukaemia, Bayo’s plans for her children paint a portrait of a woman who never stopped believing in the future.

Before her untimely death on November 11, the 11th Hour hitmaker had shared with close friends her hopes of giving Sky opportunities beyond Kenya’s borders.

One of those friends, Sarah Mtalii, who runs a tours and travel agency, revealed that the two were working on plans to help Sky experience the world and expand her horizons.

“She wanted Sky to become a global citizen,” Sarah told the media, “and that’s why she wanted her to go to places like Cambridge University summer camp and next year, the summer camp at Harvard University. We had so many plans about how to make our kids better than who we are.”

According to Sarah, the two had even met recently to discuss an upcoming family vacation for Bayo and her son, Danivictor, but the conversation naturally turned to Sky’s education and future.

“There’s a museum she talked about that she said was so good for children. She was so passionate about learning, about growth, about giving Sky more than she had,” Sarah said.

Bayo’s legacy, Sarah believes, lies not only in her music but in the values she instilled in her children — faith, resilience, and love. To honour her friend’s wishes, Sarah has vowed to personally support Sky’s education and future goals.

“My pledge to Sky is that I will support her with all the dreams her mum had and ensure she achieves them,” Sarah said. “Poleni sana to the family and all of Betty’s friends.”

Beyond the personal promises, Sarah also spoke about the deep friendship that sustained both women.

“She stood by me, especially last year when I was going through a hard time. We had big dreams — to tour the world and invest together. It was God’s will that she left, but I pray that the dreams she had for her daughter will come true,” she added.

As friends and fans continue to celebrate Bayo’s life, it’s clear that her light continues to shine through Sky — a living reminder of her mother’s faith, strength, and unwavering belief that even in pain, there is purpose.
