Kenyan content creator Gadwilliam Kiragu, popularly known to his fans as Mwalimu Kiragu, is fast becoming a household name thanks to his creative skits and relatable humor.
In a fun and candid quick-fire session with journalist Kalondu Musyimi of Mpasho, Gadwilliam Kiragu gave fans a glimpse behind the laughter — revealing a young man grounded in faith, discipline, and humility.
Born and raised in Ruai, Nairobi, Kiragu shared that his first job was in content creation, through which he earned KSh 23,000.
His journey into the entertainment industry began out of curiosity and passion — a decision he now believes changed his life.

Early Education and School Life
Kiragu attended Kerugoya Boys High School, where he performed well both academically and socially. His favorite subjects were English and French, while his least favorite were Mathematics and Chemistry.
He recalls, “Sikupata A na sikupata D, hapo katikati.” Reflecting on his school years, he said, “Walikua wengi lakini niko na huyu wa French but pia kulikuanga na Mr. Kiragu my Chemistry teacher though sikua napenda Chemistry.”
When asked whether his comedic persona Mr. Kiragu was based on a real-life teacher, he clarified, “Apana ni walimu wote in general. There is no specific teacher.”
Although he has never been a teacher by profession, Kiragu said, “Maybe kufunza foreign language na literature.” He is currently pursuing Broadcast Journalism in college, saying, “Actually niko college sai nafanya Broadcast Journalism.”
Family, Faith, and Daily Routine
Kiragu is open about his close bond with his family, describing his mum as his best friend and his dad as a constant source of wisdom.
He revealed, “The best advice I have ever received is from my dad. Ananiambianga in no matter what I do nisijicompare na watu, and always keep God close to my heart.”
Faith plays a central role in his life. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He also mentioned that his favorite Biblical personality is King David.

Talking about his daily routine, he admitted with a laugh, “My mum is going to watch this so wacha niongee ukweli — saa nne, saa tano.” He usually sleeps between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., and said, “The first thing I do when I wake up ni kuswali. The last thing before I go to sleep nascrollingi alafu naomba.”
He revealed his Mpesa balance during the interview as KSh 11,916, and when asked about his dream car, he replied, “Natakanga ka Audi si kabaya.”
Personality, Values, and Reflections
Kiragu describes himself as fun-loving, saying, “My green flag ni kucheka, yani very fun to be around.” But when asked about his red flag, he laughed, “Sasa hiyo ntasema nini, kusema tebu ama kusema sijui nini hiyo.”
The death that hit him the hardest was that of a close friend. “A friend of mine, her name is Joy, she was like a sister to me. Tulimpoteza around last year.”
He admitted wishing he had started content creation earlier. “I wish I would have learnt mambo na content creation kitambo. I could have been a millionaire.”
His big break came in 2025, marking a new phase in his career as his audience grew across digital platforms.
Views on Relationships and Life Lessons
Offering relationship advice, Kiragu said, “Mwenye ni wako atakuja na ni wako, usiharakishe. But I always believe the right person will always find you especially ukiwa ndani ya Yesu.”

When asked if he has already found the right person, he replied, “I am trusting God for one, but not right now, but later.”
Kiragu also described himself as simple and grounded, saying he is not a football fan, though he added humorously, “Let me please the boys — Chelsea, na least favorite team ni Arsenal.”
From his humble beginnings to his growing fame, Gadwilliam Kiragu’s story reflects persistence, faith, and authenticity. His message remains consistent — to trust the process and keep God close.
