Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Akothee has shared an emotional message appealing to fans to respect her personal space, reminding them that even public figures need moments of peace and privacy away from the spotlight.
In a post titled “To My Dear Fans,” posted in her Facebook account , the self-proclaimed “Madam Boss” urged her supporters to understand that being a celebrity does not mean she is always ready to entertain or engage in public interactions.
“If you see me in a restaurant, supermarket, airport, or hospital, please allow me to just be. I may not always be ready to smile, pose, or switch into ‘celebrity mode.’
Being a public figure isn’t a full-time act; I’m also human and sometimes need quiet moments to breathe and heal,” she wrote.

“I’m Human Too”
Akothee, known for her bold personality and outspoken nature, emphasized that she deeply appreciates her fans but also needs personal boundaries.
She explained that her energy and enthusiasm on stage or during public events do not extend to all aspects of her life.
She encouraged her followers to understand the difference between professional engagements and private moments.
“If you’d love photos and full energy from me, please come to my events. I always create time for that. But when you meet me in private spaces, a simple wave is enough. I promise to wave back,” she added.
Her message, which resonated widely across social media, reflects the growing conversation among public figures about mental health and privacy, particularly in the age of constant social media exposure.
Fans’ Mixed Reactions
While many fans expressed understanding and support, acknowledging that celebrities are entitled to personal space, others interpreted the post as an expression of pride.
Addressing this perception, Akothee clarified that her message was not meant to distance herself from fans but to set healthy boundaries.

''This is so true . I honestly can’t imagine how challenging it must be to live a public life. Not being able to step into a restaurant, supermarket, or any public place and just enjoy a quiet moment for yourself must be tough. Sometimes you may be feeling low or simply need time to think and reset, but getting that personal space outside your home isn’t always easy. '' Josphat Rotich added
