In one of the most heartwarming acts of unity seen this year, thousands of Kenyans travelled to Embu County on Sunday , 26 October to support Mama Gift, a single mother who has captured national attention for her devotion to caring for her ailing son, Baby Gift.
The emotional gathering took place at the Njukiri Showground, where content creators, TikTok influencers, and ordinary Kenyans from all walks of life converged many arriving in convoys of cars and motorbikes, waving flags and carrying gifts.
Videos circulating online showed the crowd singing and praying as they embraced Mama Gift, offering donations, supplies, and messages of encouragement.
“We came because we saw her story and felt her pain,” one TikTok user said. “She reminds us that being human means showing up for one another.”

Who Is Mama Gift?
Mama Gift, whose real name is Ann Njeri, is a single mother from Gathoge village in Embu County. She has been raising her son Baby Gift, who was born with multiple severe health complications.
According to her past posts and interviews, Baby Gift suffers from cerebral palsy, chronic asthma, and a heart condition, which have made daily life a constant struggle.
Despite her difficult circumstances, Mama Gift began sharing her caregiving journey on TikTok, often posting videos of her son’s hospital visits and the challenges of balancing motherhood with financial hardship.
Her openness and faith have touched many hearts, transforming her into a national symbol of resilience and unconditional love.
“I only pray for strength to take care of my child,” she once shared in a live video. “Every day is a miracle with him.”
How Kenyans Showed Up for Her
The Sunday event was organized after a group of Kenyan TikTokers began a campaign under the hashtag #SupportMamaGift, calling for people to visit her in Embu.
The movement quickly went viral, inspiring hundreds of influencers and thousands of ordinary citizens to take part.

At the event, Mama Gift was presented with food items, cash donations, baby essentials, and medical supplies for her son. Emotional moments unfolded as the crowd sang gospel songs and prayed for healing and hope.

“Today, Kenya came together as one family,” said one organizer. “We showed that we don’t need politics to do good — only love.”
Days After Supporting Kaluma Boy
The Embu gathering came just days after a similar movement saw Kenyans rally behind Kaluma Boy, a creator who went viral for documenting his struggles caring for his father, who suffered a stroke.
The youth-led drive raised funds for his father’s treatment and restored the family’s livelihood — a success story that inspired the Mama Gift initiative.
In a touching moment during Sunday’s event, Kaluma Boy joined the crowd in Embu, hugging Mama Gift and pledging continued support for her. The two young caregivers — one caring for a father, the other for a son — stood side by side, symbolizing the new wave of digital solidarity redefining Kenyan youth culture.

“I know what it feels like to fight for someone you love,” Kaluma Boy said. “Seeing Kenyans come together again like this gives me hope.”
