economic empowerment programme on October 13, 2025/DPCSDeputy President Kithure Kindiki and media mogul S.K. Macharia have dismissed rumours about the health of ODM leader Raila Odinga, assuring the public that the former Prime Minister is in good health.
Speaking in Siaya on Monday, the two leaders said they had personally spoken to Raila, who is away for treatment, and confirmed that he is doing well and will return to the country soon.
Kindiki, in his address, said that he had spoken to the ODM leader in the presence of Siaya Governor James Orengo and Senator Oburu Oginga, who is also his elder brother.
“Before I came here, I asked for permission. The Prime Minister knows I am here. I have talked to him in the presence of Governor Orengo and Senator Oburu,” said Kindiki.
He added that Raila was safe and in good spirits, condemning individuals spreading false reports about his health.
“The Prime Minister is safe and healthy. I have spoken to him, and those wishing him ill are not good people. It is against African tradition to wish anybody ill,” Kindiki stated.
Echoing the same reassurance, Royal Media Services Chairman S.K. Macharia said he had also spoken to Raila several times over the past two days and that the former Prime Minister was in excellent health.
“As of this morning, I spoke to Raila from where he is, and yesterday I also rang him. Raila is very healthy, and in a few days, he will be back here with us,” Macharia said.
He added that even before Raila left, he informed him.
“Even when he left, he told me, this is my family,” Macharia stated.
Their remarks come amid widespread speculation on social media about Raila’s whereabouts and wellbeing.
Their reassurance comes a few days after Senator Oburu assured Kenyans that Raila is in good health and recovering in India after being slightly indisposed.
Speaking to the media, Oburu dismissed reports claiming that Raila was in critical condition, terming them exaggerated and inaccurate.
“I want to tell you that Raila is up and about. Just like any other human being, he was indisposed a little and is now recuperating and resting,” Oburu said.
He emphasized that the former Prime Minister’s condition was not as serious as reported in some sections of the media.
“He was not in those conditions that have been put in the press. I want to clarify that, and very soon you will see him,” he added.
The senator confirmed that Raila is currently in India, where he is resting and recovering.
His remarks come amid heightened speculation about Raila’s health and whereabouts following his recent absence from public events.
