IT IS ALLEGED that two formersenior officials are secretly advocating for a multibillion-dollar tender to be awarded to a specific foreign company. They are allegedly leveraging their influence through a senior official at a critical state agency, which is preparing for a national exercise in two years. A TOP OFFICIAL in a politically charged devolved unit is supposedly refusing to occupy a newly completed office, claiming the furniture does not meet his "standards and taste." While colleagues have moved in, he remains alone in his old office, defiantly holding out. Procurement officers have so far ignored his demands for special imported fittings. The standoff has reportedly irritated the county chief, who now grumbles that the official seems more preoccupied with designer chairs than with his administrative duties.

STILL IN THE counties, a senior official has reportedly gone into panic mode amid questions around whether he got the job legitimately. Word is that the man now treats any stranger with unmatched suspicion, reportedly fearing that they are after him.

This has reportedly sparked a demand from some board members to cancel and re-advertise the jobs. However, a decisive dispatch from a top office has ordered the board to implement the recruitment report.
