Kenyan actress and media personality Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress, has been named the Global Goodwill Ambassador for the newly launched Bill Gates & Friends social movement, a landmark initiative tied to the Microsoft founder’s upcoming 70th birthday celebration.

Set to launch later this month in the United States, the campaign will mark Bill Gates’ milestone birthday on October 28, 2025, with a series of global events celebrating his contributions to health, education, technology, and philanthropy.

Catherine’s appointment will see her represent Africa on the global stage, focusing on Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria.

As Global Goodwill Ambassador, Kate will play a role in amplifying African voices within the campaign.

Her duties will include onboarding African changemakers for a digital movement showcasing Gates’ humanitarian legacy, collaborating with the campaign’s anthem artist on a unifying song, and leading storytelling efforts ahead of the Monthly Humanitarian Legacy Festivals and the Future of Humanity Initiative, both slated to begin in early 2026.

The digital campaign will feature interactive elements such as the Pre-Birthday Wishes Campaign, which invites fans worldwide to share messages using hashtags like #BillGatesAt70, #CelebrateImpact, and #FutureofHumanity. There will also be giveaways and recognition for outstanding African changemakers.

Catherine Kamau’s rise from actress to international advocate is a testament to her influence beyond the screen.
