The One Night Only with Kenny G concert at KICC will be remembered not only for the music but also for an emotional reunion that left the audience in awe.

After finishing his set, guitarist Kato Change, dressed in a sharp cream suit, joined MCs Lotan and Cess Mutungi on stage for a short interview.

As the conversation flowed, the MCs hinted at a surprise. Moments later, a woman in a striking black-and-white cocktail dress walked onto the stage.

Kato turned, and in an instant his composure melted. It was his mother, who had flown in from the United States, where she lives.
The guitarist rushed into her arms, the two holding each other in a long, emotional hug as the crowd broke into thunderous applause.

Clearly overwhelmed, Kato was asked when he had last seen his mother. “Earlier this year,” he said softly, still holding back tears.
His mother then turned to Lotan and Cess with a radiant smile and said, “I’m so proud and happy to be here.”

The surprise had been carefully planned by the organisers in collaboration with the MCs, and it became one of the defining moments of the evening. Guests were visibly touched, with some even breaking down in tears as they witnessed the reunion.

It was a moment that reminded everyone present that beyond the glamour of the stage, music is deeply tied to family, love and homecoming.
