A Kenyan woman has gone viral after an extraordinary act of kindness: delivering a full sack of undergarments to Kenana Primary School in Njoro.
Her donation follows a distressing report that two young sisters from the school had feared returning to class after allegedly being shamed by a teacher for not wearing underwear.
In a powerful video that has circulated widely, the woman is seen unloading her donation and speaking passionately about the devastating impact of poverty on children.
“I’ve brought them in sacks, let them wear,” she declared. “Underpants aren’t something to shame someone over. Poverty is bad. Poverty exposes you.”
The Scars of School Humiliation
Her heartfelt speech recalled her own childhood experiences, highlighting how teachers sometimes inflict lasting pain on pupils from poor backgrounds.

She spoke of being despised because their uniforms had patches.
They were ridiculed for having no shoes.
They faced hunger and shame while others carried food.
She directly challenged teachers on the lifelong impact of their behaviour, stressing that children never forget how they were treated.
“A teacher who does good, you remember them forever. But the one who wronged you, the grudge remains even years later.”
Massive Reaction Online
On TikTok, users expressed both solidarity and outrage:
@Spice? commented bluntly: “Walimu wa primary wanakuanga mafala sana” (Primary school teachers can be very foolish).
@Gorgious Natasha showed admiration: “Kumbe uko real ivi, kujeni tufollow uyu mama” (So you are this real, come let’s follow this woman).
@Tashley Natasha even added a satirical political jab: “Ruto akiona hii video atatenga suruali billioni sabini” (If Ruto sees this video, he will set aside seventy billion for trousers).
Ending the Stigma
The incident has refocused attention on the persistent problem of poverty shaming in schools, where students often lack basic necessities like lunch or appropriate clothing.
By responding with a practical donation and a fearless critique of the system, this unnamed woman has transformed a private humiliation into a public call for solidarity and respect. Her message is clear: no child should ever be made to feel ashamed for being poor.
