Kenya’s creative scene is on the brink of a cultural revolution, and at the heart of it is Sessions, a bold, youth-driven music and cultural movement founded by visionary Emmanuel Kanguro. More than just a music project, Sessions is a platform for storytelling, collaboration and authentic self-expression.
At its core, the movement is grounded in the belief that music is not merely entertainment, but a tool for communication, growth, and community building. Each project is designed to spotlight young artists, nurture creativity, and celebrate the voice of an entire generation. By weaving together music, visual storytelling and live experiences, Sessions is carving out a new identity for what it means to create and consume art in Kenya.

The Big Debut
The movement’s first major showcase comes to life on October 4th, at The Mall, Westlands with the debut of The Voice of the Uprising, a collaborative youth album reflecting the struggles, resilience, and growth of a new generation.
The event, which includes both a listening party and an after party promises to be more than just another music showcase. It is an intimate yet powerful gathering designed to unite young creatives, influencers, music lovers, and media under one roof for an unforgettable cultural experience.
The Afterparty will keep the energy alive, blending music, culture and community into one shared celebration of youth voices and artistry.
Why Session Stands Out
What makes Sessions different is its purpose-driven foundation. Unlike many projects in Kenya’s music scene, Sessions is created and led entirely by young people, making it a movement truly by youth, for youth. At its heart is collaboration, bringing together musicians, producers, and creatives to craft something larger than themselves.
Its cultural impact is undeniable, bridging artistry with community and giving Kenyan music a fresh, authentic edge. Beyond just entertainment, Sessions is about empowerment, offering a platform for talented but often overlooked youth to share their stories and amplify their voices. By doing so, the movement is creating a ripple effect that shows young Kenyans that their experiences matter and that their voices have the power to shape culture.
Meet The Artistes
Behind the Sessions movement is a collective of passionate creatives shaping the future of Kenyan music. Leading the charge is founder and executive producer Emmanuel Kanguro, a cultural curator and visionary who has worked tirelessly to establish the Sessions brand. He is supported by No Walls Records, a youth-led collective that partners with Sessions to bring the vision to life.
The project’s sound and artistic direction are guided by producers Frievoo and Kyle-oh!, both co-owners of No Walls Records, who have been instrumental in ensuring the music reflects the spirit of the movement.

The debut album, The Voice of the Uprising, introduces an exciting lineup of emerging Kenyan talent. Telani a Nairobi-based artist, brings a distinctive sound, while Nam fuses modern flows with raw and heartfelt storytelling. Mwaaji, currently studying music in Canada, offers a unique blend of Kenyan roots and global influences. Sumahh, a coastal talent, bridges cultures between Watamu and Nairobi, and Wanjiku Kihungi , a soulful vocalist, makes her first major release with the project. Together, they embody the creativity, resilience, and hunger that define Kenya’s next generation of artists.
Building A Legacy
Sessions is not just about the present moment; it is about building a cultural legacy that resonates with today’s youth and inspires future generations. Through its projects, the movement seeks to create spaces where young artists can showcase their craft, connect with audiences, and take up space in the creative industries.
