JUST WHO IS shielding a notoriously corrupt roads official? On the ground, whispers abound that he struts around as though untouchable, dishing out plum contracts to his cronies with zero regard for procurement laws. Worse still, the favoured contractors are accused of shoddy work, leaving behind impassable roads and disgruntled residents lamenting wasted taxpayer millions. The burning question remains: whose powerful hand is protecting this official and allowing him to thrive with such brazen impunity?

A NOMINATED MP has once again found himself in the headlines — and not for anything noble. In his endless quest to patch things up with a certain presidential hopeful, the lawmaker plotted a grand reunion at a flashy hotel on the outskirts of Nairobi. But the script quickly flipped. The host, still smarting from a past betrayal by the “prodigal son,” reportedly pulled a disappearing act mid-meal. The MP was left holding the bill — a jaw-dropping tab running into hundreds of thousands. Word has it he’s allegedly still licking his wounds… and wishing he had just stayed home with ugali and sukuma.

WHO WILL COME to the rescue of these police officers undertaking promotion courses at a training college? Corridors of Power is informed the officers are forced to pay monthly deductions of 10 per cent of their basic salary, while their colleagues at two other colleges study for free. Sources also whisper that the officers endure punishing routines, dawn runs, classes that stretch past midnight, and meagre meals of soup, raw ugali, and scraps of meat. Fatigue is compounded by alleged grudges against those without godfathers or with retired relatives in the service. With many trainees being from an investigative agency, some wonder if this harsh treatment is an indirect war on them.

IT SEEMS A principal secretary wields such immense power in his ministry that his word is final. Our mole tells us he has supposedly converted one of the newly acquired vehicles within the ministry into his private asset. Even more intriguingly, the car has allegedly ended up in the hands of his aide, who cruises around on personal errands and managing the boss’s side hustles. The vehicle, now curiously bearing private number plates, is still fuelled and maintained by the taxpayer. The staff at the ministry, who are aware, are baffled at how such blatant abuse of state resources could continue unchecked.
