The family of the beloved reggae MC and DJ, MC Fullstop, has announced the launch of a new foundation in his name.

The initiative, shared on his official social media pages on Thursday, September 18, 2025, aims to support upcoming artistes and DJs while also tackling drug and substance abuse.

The move is a heartfelt tribute to the late star's dedication to music and his profound impact on Kenya’s reggae scene.

"In honour of MC Fullstop’s passion, we have decided to start a foundation under his name that seeks to raise awareness on drug and substance abuse as well as support upcoming reggae MCs and DJs."

His family also shared that fans will soon be able to access his lifetime music content and future projects through the foundation's platforms.

Born John Maina, MC Fullstop was a force in Kenya's reggae movement. His distinctive raspy voice, charisma, and dynamic energy made him a household name. He began performing professionally at just 14, carving out a legendary career that spanned decades.

His health battles were public knowledge since 2021, when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. This led to the collapse of his left lung, and in 2022, he contracted throat TB, which affected his signature voice.

Despite these immense challenges, he made a brave return to the airwaves in 2023 and continued to perform until his final show on July 26, 2025.

He passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 45.

Honouring a Legend

The announcement of the foundation comes just weeks after a huge send-off for the reggae icon on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Nairobi Chapel.

Hundreds of mourners came together to pay their final respects before he was laid to rest at Lang'ata Cemetery.

The family expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they received, vowing to carry on his mission of nurturing young talent and promoting reggae culture.
