Covering Bien-Aimé Baraza’s Alusa Continua World Tour stop in Meru was more than just another assignment -it was a deep dive into the demanding, yet exhilarating, world of a Grammy award-winning artist on tour.
The journey began on Saturday morning as we set off from Nairobi to Meru, a stretch of at least 225 kilometers.
Packed in the same bus as part of Bien’s team, his dancers, band members, and crew—I quickly realized that a successful show is built on far more than what fans see under the bright lights.
Behind every note sung and every move on stage lie sleepless nights, endless calls to secure logistics, hotel bookings, rehearsals, sound checks, meals, transport, and the quiet determination of a team that believes in an artist’s vision.
Watching Bien’s team operate up close was a revelation. The coordination required to move a full set- sound equipment, instruments, costumes, and personnel—from city to city is nothing short of military precision.

By 7 p.m., the Meru National Polytechnic was already buzzing, with fans streaming in for what would become a sold-out show.
