Kenyan rapper Zum C has officially unveiled the music video for his latest single, ‘Labda’, and it is already creating waves among fans for its catchy rhythm and striking visuals.
The release marks a strong return to the spotlight for the fast-rising rapper, who has carved out a space in Kenya’s vibrant hip-hop scene through his unique blend of soulful lyricism and streetwise authenticity.
‘Labda’ is a rich fusion of modern Afropop sounds layered with Zum C’s signature introspective rap delivery. The track explores themes of love, life’s uncertainties, and ambition, giving listeners both a reflective and relatable experience.
Beyond its lyrical depth, the song also highlights the transformation of Kenya’s music production landscape. Speaking to Pulse, Zum C reflected on how far the industry has come.

“Back in the day, we used to record in one-room setups with DIY equipment,” he shared. “Now I’m working with producers who send beats from the US, mix engineers from South Africa, and within hours we can complete a song via Zoom or even WhatsApp. It’s a different era.”
According to Zum C, digital tools and global collaborations have broken barriers that once made professional production out of reach.
“We no longer have to go to South B or downtown studios just to lay a track,” he explained. “Today, you can record a hit in your bedroom with a mic and a laptop — and make it to the charts if the sound is right.”
The newly released music video captures the essence of the track, blending sleek visuals with a storyline that mirrors the emotional depth of the lyrics. Its fresh direction and polished production make it stand out, further proving that Zum C is ready to make his mark on the mainstream stage.
He also acknowledged the role of streaming and video platforms in elevating Kenyan talent to global audiences. “YouTube, Audiomack, and Boomplay have given artists like me direct access to fans. With just one release, you can reach the world.”
Zum C, who made his name in Kenya’s underground hip-hop scene nearly a decade ago, revealed that ‘Labda’ is only a taste of what’s to come. The single is part of a conceptual EP slated for release later this year, which he says will blend trap, spoken word, and modern Genge into one cohesive story.
“Art has to reflect the times, but also elevate the conversation,” he said, hinting that his upcoming body of work will be as socially conscious as it is sonically innovative.
With the release of the ‘Labda’ video, Zum C has once again proven his ability to balance artistry, storytelling, and relevance — setting the stage for an exciting chapter in his career.
