Nairobi knows how to throw a party, but on a recent Thursday, i.e. 21st August 2025, the vibe was different. It was a fusion of creative energy and real-world opportunity.

This was the scene at the official launch of the ELEV8 LIVE Studio, a new space designed to support young artists and boost Kenya's creative economy. The project is a collaboration between hit music producer Motif Di Don and NCBA Bank.

The Work Behind the Party
Before the guests arrived, the work was already in motion.

NCBA's Group Director of Marketing, Communication & Citizenship, Nelly Wainaina, was on-site early, networking and taking a tour of the studio.

The atmosphere was focused and professional, setting the stage for what would become a landmark night.
A Night of Rising Stars
As evening approached, the mood shifted from business to celebration.

The stage came alive with performances from a new generation of Kenyan talent, including:
Brian Kome (aka Jambia)

Rennick Lou Nzala

Hillary Mwende (Switney)

Jaw Breaker

Each artist brought their unique style and raw energy, proving exactly why a space like ELEV8 LIVE is so important—it's a platform for fresh, unfiltered talent.

Motif Di Don's Vision
The highlight of the night was Motif Di Don himself. Taking the stage with his usual blend of confidence and humility, he made it clear that the studio is about more than just music.

“We have incredible talent in this country, but what’s missing is structure, mentorship, and access to financial support. That’s what this partnership with NCBA is about.”
His words resonated deeply with the crowd. This wasn't just a speech; it was a clear call to action, and the audience's cheers showed their support.
Breaking Down the Barriers for Creatives
In a joint interview, Nelly Wainaina and Motif Di Don discussed the bigger picture. They highlighted three major barriers that stop creatives from getting financial support:

Capacity: Many artists lack formal business records.
Character: The creative industry is often seen as an "unserious" career.

Collateral: Artists often don't have traditional assets like land or cars to use for loans.
ELEV8 LIVE aims to solve these problems with a three-part strategy:
Mentorship: Offering financial literacy and business skills programmes.
Structure: Helping artists formalise their work.
Access: Creating tailored financial products, including loans and accounts that fit a creative's life.
A Movement Kicks Off
After the serious conversations, it was time to celebrate. The rest of the night was a mix of clinking glasses, great music, and vibrant conversations.

The room buzzed with the energy that happens when business and culture meet.
By the end of the night, it was clear this was more than just a party. It was a statement: Kenya’s creative economy is ready to be taken seriously, and the ELEV8 LIVE studio is the bridge to make that happen.

For young artists, the message is simple: keep an eye on social media, get ready for open calls, and show up. Because this isn't just a studio—it's the start of a movement. The door has just been kicked wide open.
