Uhuru Gardens is transforming into a massive concert arena. The 68-acre historic site is preparing to host Congolese superstar Fally Ipupa on 5 September 2026.
The venue on Lang’ata Road is Kenya's largest memorial park. Now, behind-the-scenes crews are working to ready the national monument for a 12-hour musical marathon.
The event will start at 3:00 PM on Saturday and run until 3:00 AM the following morning. To support this scale, production teams are setting up extensive infrastructure. Premium events production firm Fenon is managing the technical setup.
Rigging the Mega-Stage
The behind-the-scenes preparation involves massive technical coordination. Technical crews are assembling heavy stage rigging and high-tech lighting systems.
Alongside the main stage, vendor build-ups are happening across the grounds. Teams are erecting experiential marketing tents, food markets, and secure VIP enclosures. The VIP and VVIP areas will serve finger foods and soft drinks to guests.
A Historic Backdrop for Rhumba
The concert takes place in a venue of immense national significance. The aerial layout of the 68-acre complex is designed in the shape ofKenya's national coat of arms. This includes a traditional African shield flanked by two crossed spears.
At the heart of the grounds stands the iconic 24-Meter Independence Monument. This column marks the exact spot where Kenya's first flag was raised on 12 December 1963.
The site also houses the ultra-modern underground museum developed by the Kenya Defence Forces. Its general galleries hold over 12,300 historical items, including Kenya's first constitution. Nearby sits the sobering 72-meter Tunnel of Martyrs, which honours national heroes.
Crowd management is a key focus of the behind-the-scenes planning. Fally Ipupa will deliver a massive performance set lasting 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Kenya'sboys band Kodong Klan is allocated 1 hour and 40 minutes on the stage.Other major acts like DJ Maphorisa and Kamo Mphela will also perform.
Organisers expect a large turnout at the public arena. The event is supported by key partners, including Hams Prod and Villa Rosa Kempinski.
