Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone, real name Joseph Mayanja, and his wife, Daniella Atim, have reportedly agreed to end their 17-year marriage.
According to multiple news sources from Uganda, the divorce proceedings were initiated by Daniella in March of this year, with a petition citing a long period of neglect and a lack of love.
According to the reports, Daniella claimed she suffered from depression and was left to single-handedly raise their five children after being abandoned for five years.
The couple married on June 7, 2008, at St. James Catholic Parish in Kampala.

Terms of the Divorce
The divorce petition filed by Daniella Atim is said to have outlined several key demands. She is seeking full custody of the couple's five children and full ownership of their family home in Seguku, a suburb of Kampala.
She is also asking for continuous financial support for herself and the children and wants Chameleone to cover the legal fees associated with the divorce.

The sources indicate that Jose Chameleone has agreed to continue providing for his children. However, he is reportedly opposing some of Daniella's other demands.
He insists that the Seguku residence should be held in the children's names, not just Daniella's. He is also seeking to have access to his children, claiming his wife has turned them against him.

Chameleone has denied the accusations of neglect, stating that he and Daniella had jointly decided to relocate the family to the United States in 2018. He maintains that he has consistently provided financial support to them.
He also believes that both parents, being employed, should contribute to the children's upbringing.
A History of Marital Strife
The couple's relationship has been under public scrutiny for several years. Daniella had previously filed for divorce in 2017, citing cruelty and domestic violence.
In court records from that time, she alleged that Chameleone would physically and verbally abuse her, sometimes in the presence of their children.
During that period, she claimed to have been physically assaulted by her husband after he returned home drunk. She said she would seek refuge at friends’ homes to hide from him and would veil herself to cover bruises. Chameleone, however, denied those claims.

He previously said in a Facebook livestream that there would be no divorce because he was a Catholic and did not believe in it. He even blamed the reports on "haters" who wanted to see him fail.
Despite their previous reconciliation, it appears the latest divorce proceedings will bring an end to their 17-year union.
