Comedian and actor DJ Shiti has shed light on the evolving landscape of Kenyan entertainment, sharing insights into his strategic approach to artistry and revealing a significant new role for Chingiboy Mstado – widely known as Stevo Simple Boy’s former manager – within his team.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Mic Cheque podcast, Shiti emphasised the critical importance of professionalism and adaptation for artists navigating today's industry.

Chingiboy's New Chapter
During the insightful podcast discussion, DJ Shiti highlighted the structured and professional approach he now takes with his work. As part of this, he shared details about Chingiboy's involvement.
Shiti revealed that Chingiboy's responsibilities include handling inquiries and managing communications from various media outlets and public relations teams.

His role involves addressing audience questions and maintaining public engagement, effectively serving as a key liaison for DJ Shiti’s public image.
“In my team, there is Chingiboy who is my PA, he knows how to navigate, and he also updates me on what the entertainment websites and blogs are asking about me. He puts me on toes, which is a good thing,” Shiti said.

Embracing Professionalism in Entertainment
Shiti underlined the necessity for artists to constantly evolve and adapt to stay relevant. He noted that the Kenyan audience quickly tires of stagnant content. He strongly advocates for professionalism, stating that approaching the work professionally ensures success1.
"Hii kazi ukiifanya viprofessional hautawahi enda wrong,” Shiti stated.
He stressed the importance of meticulous planning for shoots and projects, contrasting this with a casual, "street" approach. Shiti also highlighted the efficiency of having a dedicated team, where each member understands their specific role, from capturing moments to managing cameras.
He expressed his disdain for "lazy artists" and those who rely on excuses or "long stories" instead of focusing on solutions and consistent output.

The Evolving Landscape of Kenyan Entertainment
The comedian also touched upon the changing dynamics of the industry, particularly with the rise of online media. He mentioned the need for constant presence online and the value of having a team that can generate fresh concepts.
Shiti’s rebrand to 'Pastor Silvanas' is an example of this adaptive mindset, which he credits for bringing in new business and opportunities.
Chingiboy and Stevo Simple Boy's professional relationship ended around March 2024 when Chingiboy resigned as Stevo's manager, citing interference from Stevo's family in decision-making.
They had worked together for approximately one year, with Chingiboy initially stepping in after a previous management issue.
