Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has promised to reward Harambee Stars with Sh400 million if they win the CHAN 2024 tournament.

Speaking ahead of Harambee Stars' first match against DR Congo, Sonko said that he is optimistic that the National Team will emerge victorious in the tournament.

“I will support His Excellency, President William Ruto, with Sh400, 00 million. So if Harambee Stars win CHAN 2024, they have a billion shillings. The President will give his Sh600 million and I will give my Sh400 million,” Sonko said.

He went on to challenge the team to do their best so that they can walk away with a total of Sh1,000,000,000 following President William Ruto’s pledge of Sh600 million.

He clarified that he is not competing with the President, but rather aiming to motivate the boy.

“I’m not in competition with the head of State. Mine is just to support and motivate the boys to do better. I want our team to win the CHAN tournament. So Harambee Stars, you have a million if you win CHAN,” Mike Sonko said.
