Sunday, 27th July, was no ordinary weekend in Nairobi. It was Tribe Vibe Sunday, and Bao Box Café transformed into a buzzing hub of music, fashion, food, art, and fun.
If you weren't there, you truly missed one of the most fulfilling lifestyle experiences the city has offered recently.
Early Birds and Building Anticipation
Arriving early, around 11 a.m., the atmosphere was already warming up. The DJ, knowing how to set the mood, was spinning relaxed blues.
This created an unexpected, cool groove for the few early birds – mostly event staff, security, and Bao Box crew getting everything ready.
Even with just a handful of us there, you could already sense that something special was brewing.
By noon, the venue started to buzz. Guests steadily trickled in, ranging from Nairobi's fashion trendsetters to avid music lovers and general lifestyle enthusiasts.
The special Bao Box menu offered a delightful variety of food and drinks, truly delivering on Tribe Vibe's promise of a feast for the senses.
More Than Just Music and Food: Engaging Activities
What really made the event stand out wasn't just the fantastic music or delicious food; it was the wide array of activities available.
A mini-golf simulator offered attendees a relaxed challenge.
The dart section invited friendly competition.
For those with an artistic flair, live sketch artists were on-site. They offered custom portraits and chatted with guests who wanted a unique, personal keepsake from the day.
From Mellow to Electric: Live Performances Light Up the Night
As the afternoon rolled into early evening, the venue quickly filled up, and the DJ picked up the pace. The air shifted from relaxed lounging to heads nodding and feet tapping.
Just before nightfall, the stage lit up with live karaoke performances. Three lead vocalists took to the mic, captivating the audience with every note.

But it was truly when the sun dipped below the skyline that Tribe Vibe came alive.
The dance floor exploded into a vibrant mix of movement, colour, and pure joy. The hype man kept the energy soaring, calling out dance moves and pushing the collective excitement to full throttle.
From spontaneous dance-offs to enthusiastic group sing-alongs, the night became a full-on celebration of culture, music, and connection.
All around, people were enjoying what made the event so special: playing darts, sipping cocktails, laughing at art sketches, admiring bold fashion statements, and most importantly, just letting loose.
