The government has advertised several job opportunities across key public institutions, targeting qualified Kenyans .

The job vacancies are in the Kenya Power Pension Fund (KPPF), the Media Council of Kenya, the Ministry of Lands, the Concil of Legal Education (CLE), KICD and two public universities.

In a notice released by the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, the Cabinet Secretary declared four vacancies for the position of Member of the Media Council of Kenya.

The ministry stated that applicants must be Kenyan citizens, hold a degree from a recognised university, and possess at least ten years’ experience in journalism, media studies, law, human rights, education, business, public relations, ICT, or any other relevant field.

It further indicated that applicants must be persons of high moral standing, meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, and have a distinguished professional track record in their field of expertise.

According to the notice, persons holding political office, Members of Parliament or County Assemblies, and individuals declared bankrupt or previously removed from office for contravening the Constitution are not eligible for the appointments.

The ministry urged women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from minority and marginalised communities to apply.

It clarified that applications can be submitted manually or online and must include a detailed CV, academic and professional certificates, a copy of the national ID or passport, and any other supporting documents.

All applications should be marked “Application for the position of Member, Media Council of Kenya” and addressed to the Selection Panel at Teleposta Towers, 10th Floor, Nairobi.

The deadline for submission is August 4, 2025, at 5:00 pm.

Shortlisted applicants will be vetted by relevant agencies, including the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Credit Reference Bureau.

Separately, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has advertised five senior positions in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, under the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning.

In the advertisement, the PSC listed the available positions as Deputy Chief Land Registrar (2 posts), Senior Deputy Director Land Valuation (2 posts), and Deputy Director Research (1 post).

The commission noted that applications must be submitted online only through the commission’s websites, www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.

The deadline for these applications is on Monday, August 19, 2025, at 5:00 pm East African Time.

In the university sector, the commission also declared two vacancies for Deputy Vice-Chancellors in public universities.

The positions are Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Research and Innovation) at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) at the University of Kabianga.

Each university has one vacancy, with applications also due by August 19, 2025.

The PSC warned the public to be wary of fraudsters posing as commission officials and soliciting bribes, stating that it does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.

The commission confirmed that all job details can be accessed through official websites, including www.publicservice.go.ke, www.psckjobs.go.ke, www.information.go.ke, www.mygov.go.ke, and www.mediacouncil.or.ke.

The Council of Legal Education has also advertised one job opportunity for a Senior Corporate Communication Officer.

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has announced a vacancy for the position of Senior Corporate Communication Officer.

In a public notice issued under reference CLE/JOB-066/2025, the Council stated that the position falls under Grade CLE 6 and will be offered on a full-time basis. Only one position is available.

CLE is seeking to competitively recruit a high-calibre professional to join its team.

The Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLOCA) Program has advertised two key job opportunities aimed at strengthening Kenya’s resilience to climate change.

Managed by the Program Implementation Unit (PIU) under the National Treasury and Economic Planning’s Climate Finance and Green Economy Unit (CG&GEU), FLLOCA is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for a one-year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and work needs.

Among the advertised positions is that of a Finance and Compliance Specialist who will be based at the PIU Office in Nairobi.

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial compliance during the implementation of the county-level components of the program.

Applicants are required to have at least a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, or Governance.

A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in the public sector, donor-funded projects, or parastatals is mandatory.

Experience with international projects, particularly those financed by the World Bank, is considered an added advantage. Strong analytical, report writing, and computer skills are essential.

In addition, the program is hiring a Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Officer.

This officer will also be stationed at the PIU Office and will report to the M&E Specialist and Program Coordinator.

The primary role will be to support the implementation of the program's monitoring and evaluation framework.

Responsibilities include developing performance indicators, supporting data collection and analysis, and preparing reports to ensure stakeholder engagement and accountability.

Applicants must possess at least a first degree in a relevant field, with professional qualifications and at least three years of experience in public service and donor-funded programs.

Proficiency in M&E systems and familiarity with reporting standards of donor-funded projects are essential.

On the other hand, Kenya Power Pension Fund (KPPF) has announced a fresh call for applications to fill the position of Manager, Planning & Strategy.

In a statement issued under reference number KPPF/HRA-HR/1/25/7, the Fund noted that the vacancy is a re-advertisement and urged qualified candidates with visionary, result-oriented, and innovative traits to apply.

The Fund emphasised its commitment to attracting top talent to support its transformation agenda.

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has revised the submission guidelines and literary text requirements for the 2025 Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) support materials for Senior School, as earlier advertised in the MyGov newspaper on May 20 and July 1, 2025.

In a statement, KICD announced amendments to the literary texts required for Literature in English and Fasihi ya Kiswahili for Grades 10, 11, and 12.

The revised texts for Literature in English include: a novel from Kenya, an autobiography, a biography, an anthology of short stories (featuring stories from Kenya, Africa, and globally), an anthology of poetry, a textbook on oral literature, and a textbook on poetry.

For Kiswahili, the revised list includes: Wasifu, Hadithi Fupi (30 short stories in one volume), Kitabu cha Fasihi Simulizi, and Kitabu cha Mashairi.

The statement emphasised that the selected texts must be literarily rich in content, style, and language, with strong thematic and contextual relevance to learners.

The materials must also reflect CBC’s core competencies, values, and Pertinent Contemporary Issues (PCIs), while aligning with the learners’ age, academic level, and psychosocial development.

Preference for autobiographies and biographies is given to Kenyan and African contexts, though global works with notable relevance will also be accepted.

Additionally, the deadline for submissions has been extended from August 6 to August 12, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

Publishers interested in submitting materials must ensure timely delivery.

All submissions will be opened and announced on the same day at 12:30 p.m. in the presence of attending publishers at the KICD offices, Desai Road, off Murang’a Road, Nairobi.

KICD urged all publishers and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the revised guidelines and submission timelines.
