Gospel musician Stephen Kasolo has become the first artiste to officially respond to former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s open challenge by releasing a song inspired by her now-viral phrase, “Nikiwa ndani mnalia, nikiwa nje mnalia.” The track premiered on YouTube on the morning of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, and is already garnering online attention with over 500 views in its first hour. Kasolo’s upbeat gospel production blends faith-based resilience with political defiance, echoing Mwangaza’s message of enduring criticism with unshaken resolve. Mwangaza first issued the challenge during the launch of her new political party on Saturday, July 19, daring artistes to craft a song using her phrase, promising a Ksh100,000 reward. The statement, aimed at her political critics in Meru, questioned why they continued attacking her even after her impeachment. “They cry when I’m in, they cry when I’m out,” she said, igniting a social media frenzy. “Whoever goes to the studio and produces a great song must ensure the line is in there.” Kasolo, best known for his emotive gospel hits, jumped on the challenge almost immediately. His new track opens with a minute-long metallic beat intro—a signature of his sound—before transitioning into lyrics that name-drop Mwangaza and frame her journey as a metaphor for divine endurance and faith under fire. The former governor, clearly thrilled, reposted the song’s promotional poster and praised Kasolo for creatively running with the challenge beyond Meru County. She announced she would be inviting the Kitui-born singer to perform at one of her upcoming rallies.
“Kitui County well represented! Calling you soon at #CanaanRanch stadium, Ntumburi,” she wrote on Facebook. Kasolo’s quick response has opened the floodgates for more artistes to join the trend, with fans already suggesting a possible remix or collaboration in the works. Whether the Ksh100,000 has been disbursed remains unclear, but Mwangaza’s challenge has certainly struck a chord—both musically and politically.
