Kenyan actress Sandra Dacha has revealed that she has shed an impressive 33 kilograms in just 11 months since embarking on her weight loss journey with the aid of Ozempic.

The popular actress, widely known for her bold on-screen presence and outspoken personality, shared the significant update with her fans on Instagram.

Dacha expressed that she now feels both “lighter and happier,” adding that this remarkable transformation has profoundly improved both her physical health and emotional well-being.

Her revelation came after a curious fan questioned why she appeared to have shifted her previous views on weight loss.

In earlier posts, Dacha had confidently embraced her body at 123 kilograms, often stating that she was focused on fitness and self-love rather than actively pursuing weight loss.

However, in a candid and heartfelt response, the actress explained that her weight had escalated to a staggering 152 kilograms during the COVID-19 pandemic—a realisation that pushed her into the medical category of “greater morbid obesity.”

This stark reality, she explained, forced her to fundamentally reconsider her approach to health and wellness.

“I was born weighing 6 kilos already, so that should tell you how comfortable I’ve always been being plus-size. Yaani mimi sijawahi jua kukonda ni nini,” she wrote, conveying her long-standing comfort with her body.

“Corona happened, then I went up to 152kgs… nikasema no no no no no, nataka kurudi kwa ile yangu nimezoea.” Her words indicated a desire to return to a more familiar and healthier state.

"Toning Down," Not Conforming to Standards

Dacha further clarified that her current goal is not to conform to society’s often unrealistic beauty standards, but rather to return to a healthier, more comfortable version of herself—closer to the weight she was familiar with before the pandemic significantly impacted her.

She strongly emphasised that this journey is about “toning down,” and crucially, not about losing her identity or changing who she fundamentally is as a person.

This distinction underscores her commitment to self-acceptance alongside health.

Greater Morbid Obesity—also known as Class III Obesity—is a severe medical condition in which a person has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 50 or higher.

It represents the most extreme form of obesity and is unequivocally associated with a significantly increased risk of serious health complications.

These complications include, but are not limited to, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain types of cancers.

Individuals falling into this category often require serious medical intervention, such as weight-loss surgery or prescribed medication like Ozempic, to effectively manage their health and substantially lower long-term risks.
