The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced 200 job openings for its graduates, offering a chance to work as professional drivers across Kenya’s 47 counties.

The roles, available to eligible candidates, are with a long-standing public transport operator that has served the country for over 15 years and grown its fleet from 30 to 300 units—a testament to its strong commitment to quality service.

“With competitive salary packages, our client wishes to employ NYS graduates for their resilience and discipline in the position of drivers across all 47 counties in Kenya,” NYS said in a statement posted on X.

The deadline for submissions is June 27, 2025.

Requirements:

Education: At least a D+ (plus) in KCSE or its equivalent. 

Ability to read and write fluently in both English and Kiswahili.

Additional training in customer service, hospitality, or communication will be an added advantage.

Must have a BCE-Class Professional Driving Certification from NYS and a valid PSV (Public Service Vehicle) license from the NTSA.

Must have passed a driving proficiency test conducted by an approved authority, or a suitability test administered by the Chief Mechanical and Transport Engineer in the relevant ministry.

Must be between 23 and 35 years old, have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the DCI within the last six months, and be in good physical and medical shape. 

Training in defensive driving or first aid will be an added advantage.

At least five years of accident-free driving experience is required.

Responsibilities:

If selected, successful candidates will be required to operate vehicles professionally, in line with Kenyan traffic laws and NTSA regulations.

They will also be expected to ensure routine maintenance, carry out daily safety and operational checks, and monitor fuel usage, mileage, warning indicators, and overall vehicle condition.
