Having declared a complete estrangement from his twin brother Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, and older brother Jude Okoye, Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, alias Mr P, has cited a profound breach of trust and familial betrayal.

Renowned as half of the disbanded P-Square duo, Peter has taken to X to vent his frustrations following developments in an alleged money laundering case implicating Jude, centered around over ₦1.38 billion (approximately KSh 114.4 million).

Having testified as the first prosecution witness, Peter has denounced misinformation spread by a publicist tied to the defence.

Having rejected claims of misleading the court, he has reaffirmed his commitment to truthfulness. “Having believed family should never steal from family, I’ve seen loyalty, not just blood, define true kinship,” he posted.

Having remained silent for over two decades to preserve peace, Peter has expressed regret, noting that this approach had nearly destroyed him.

Having prioritised his mental well-being, he has vowed to abandon the role of the “bigger person” in a toxic family dynamic. “Having disowned them, I’ve placed my mental health first—any cost beyond that is too high,” he wrote.

Having responded to a fan urging reconciliation, Peter has stood firm, asserting that genuine family neither exploits nor manipulates.

Having referenced the late singer Mohbad, whose controversial death in 2023 had underscored the dangers of silence, Peter noted that staying quiet for 20 years had nearly cost him everything.

“Having learned real love doesn’t manipulate and true loyalty never betrays, I’ve chosen to speak out,” he shared.

Having reignited discussions about the Okoye family’s long-standing rift, Peter’s statement has highlighted tensions since P-Square’s 2017 split. Although having reunited briefly with Paul in 2021, Peter has indicated that the current legal proceedings involving Jude have deepened unresolved issues.

As the case has progressed, Peter has appeared determined to move forward, having prioritised his peace over familial bonds he now considers irreparably broken.
