Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia has joined the cast of Mommy’s Club, a reality TV show that highlights the lives of mothers balancing parenting, work, and personal commitments.

This marks her first appearance in a reality format, having previously worked in scripted television.

In an interview with Mpasho, Matubia said her decision to join the show came after attending several auditions. “I attended a couple of auditions and I just hoped that they'll call me back. When they did, it was a yes without thinking,” she said.

She added that the concept of the show immediately appealed to her. Mommy’s Club, which originated in South Africa three years ago, focuses on the daily lives of mothers and their shared experiences.

“I felt like I belonged in such a show ever since Mommy's Club was born in South Africa three years ago,” she explained.

Matubia described the experience of filming as different from her previous roles, noting that it requires her to show her real self on camera.

“It's different because I'm used to hiding my real life from people and just giving them what I'm supposed to give them, which is just content. And now, on this other side, I’m welcoming everyone on a daily basis,” she said.

She acknowledged that viewers will see a different side of her, beyond her public persona on social media and television.

“They will definitely be amazed because they will see a very different Jackie Matubia. This is a Jackie Matubia who's a mom, a career woman, and just like anyone else trying to stay afloat in the economy,” she added.

The show also provides a platform for mothers to share their personal challenges and connect through common experiences. “Everyone is going through what I’m going through,” Matubia noted.

Mommy’s Club aims to explore motherhood from various perspectives, offering audiences a closer look into the lives of women juggling multiple responsibilities.

Matubia joins the series alongside other cast members as they navigate family, work, and personal growth.
