Sauti Sol’s multi-talented member — instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer Savara Mudigi — has opened up about why he chose his longtime partner, Yvonne Endo, to be part of his management team.

For Savara, the decision wasn’t just professional; it was deeply personal.

Speaking candidly in a recent interview, the celebrated musician explained that Yvonne's intimate understanding of him, both as an artist and a person, made her the ideal fit for the role.

“Yvonne is part of my management team,” Savara shared. “Of everyone on the team, she’s the one who knows me best. I felt she was best placed to relay information, act as the bridge between myself and others, and help people understand me better — simply because she already does.”

While many creatives shy away from mixing business with romance — fearing potential conflict of interest, blurred emotional lines, or public scrutiny — Savara believes the opposite can be true if the foundation is strong.

“I believe family should come first in everything,” he said. “It’s important to be surrounded by people who genuinely care about you, people who would take a bullet for you. That kind of love and loyalty makes you feel secure, and I’m lucky to have that.”

Savara also challenged the common perception that working with a partner is inherently problematic.

“There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Teams are built differently. The most important thing is to have a team you can trust,” he stressed.

The couple, who have been together for around seven years, are yet to formalise their relationship through marriage. However, Savara remains unbothered by public expectations or labels.

“Whether we’re dating or married, that’s up to people to define how they want. I’m not interested in over-explaining or over-defining things. That’s their business, not mine,” he said in a previous interview.

He added that the way two people choose to love each other should always remain personal.

“What matters is how you choose to love. The form it takes — when, where, and how — should be determined by the people in it, not by societal expectations.”

Interestingly, Savara is not the only Sauti Sol bandmate to choose a partner as a manager. In February 2022, fellow band member Bien-Aimé Baraza revealed that his wife, Chiki Kuruka, took on the role of managing his solo career.

“During my ‘Alone Together’ journey, my wife became my manager. Chiki is incredible at managing anything — she could run a restaurant, a business, anything. When she started managing me, it changed everything. It even made me love her more,” Bien said at the time.

“Before, we weren’t building a future as a team. But now, if she’s negotiating a gig or speaking on my behalf, she knows it’s for our home, our future. That gave our relationship deeper meaning.”
