Comedian and media personality Oga Obinna has come out strongly to dismiss rumours suggesting he fled Kenya following the tragic death of Father John Maina Ndegwa, the Igwamiti Catholic Parish priest.
Reacting to a viral Facebook post that claimed he was spotted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) leaving the country, Obinna wrote, “Surely. I have not done anything. I have not wronged anyone.”
His comment quickly attracted a wave of support from fans, with some reassuring him of their protection and others injecting humour into the tense situation.
Comments ranged from comforting messages like “We will protect you, don't worry,” and “May God watch over you always,” to cheeky jabs: “Tell Munez to work out every day,” and “Remind him that you carried him on a wheelbarrow, and he will forgive you.”
The online speculation stemmed from Obinna’s recent hard-hitting interview with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence.
In the interview, which drew wide public attention, Gachagua made a sensational claim that President William Ruto had broken down in tears while seeking his political support, describing the pain he endured under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The moment sparked heated political debate, and many interpreted Gachagua’s revelations as a sign of a deepening rift within the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
The tension heightened further when news broke of Father John Maina’s death just three weeks after he had hosted Gachagua and his entourage during the parish’s 25th family day event on April 27.

According to reports, the priest was abducted, brutally assaulted with a blunt object, and later found dumped near the roadside in Kikopey, Gilgil — nearly 50 kilometres from his parish. He died while undergoing treatment at St. Joseph Hospital in Gilgil.
During the April event, Maina had used his sermon to urge political leaders to lead with humility, uphold integrity, and always prioritise the welfare of Kenyans.
His death sent shockwaves across the country, prompting calls for a thorough investigation and stirring speculation, particularly online.
Following the circulation of conspiracy theories linking various events, Obinna’s name was dragged into the conversation — a move he found both absurd and unjustified.
Meanwhile, the aftermath of Gachagua’s explosive interview has not gone unnoticed.

Police have reportedly been camping outside his residences in what insiders suggest is part of a broader investigation into recent political developments and the priest's death.
Though no formal charges have been made against Gachagua, the heavy police presence has fuelled further speculation about possible links between his recent statements and ongoing tensions within the government.
