Kenyan YouTuber and comedian Oga Obinna recently shared a gripping account of how his candid interview with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua left him rattled while driving back to Nairobi.

The interview, aired on Obinna Show Live, saw Gachagua open up about his fallout with President William Ruto, making bold claims that stirred both intrigue and unease.

During the tell-all session, Gachagua alleged that Ruto had come to him in tears, pleading for support against Raila Odinga during the 2022 General Election.

The politician, who recently launched his Democratic Congress Party (DCP), also expressed willingness to forgive the president despite their rift.

The interview’s intensity left Obinna and his crew on edge as they drove back from doing it.

“Every time I saw a police roadblock, I froze,” Obinna recounted, laughing nervously with his team in his luxurious car. “There were so many roadblocks. I didn’t even want to drive home last night. Pray for me—I’ve brought this on myself!”

His crew’s amusement did little to ease his nerves, highlighting the weight of hosting such a high-stakes conversation.

Beyond the interview’s drama, Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas, made headlines with a generous pledge to support Obinna’s upcoming stand-up comedy show, scheduled for 7 June 2025 at a Nairobi venue.

Obinna shared details of the event, explaining that pre-sale tickets cost KSh 1,000, with regular tickets now at KSh 1,500.

Aiming for an audience of 800, despite the venue’s 1,500 capacity, he was thrilled when Gachagua offered to buy 200 tickets for young people unable to afford them.

Pastor Dorcas, known for her advocacy for boys’ rights during her time as the deputy president’s wife, added 50 tickets exclusively for men.

Gachagua stressed that his gesture was not politically motivated but driven by a desire to bring joy to young people.

“I love young people, and if I can make them smile, I’m fulfilled,” he said. However, he challenged Obinna to ensure fair distribution, sparking a light-hearted debate over how to allocate the tickets equally between men and women.

The comic suggested increasing the total to 300 for simpler distribution, and Gachagua agreed, with the couple finalising their commitment to 300 tickets—200 from Gachagua and 100 from Pastor Dorcas.

“I want to help those who genuinely want to attend but can’t afford it,” Gachagua noted, urging Obinna to organise the process transparently.

The pledge is a significant boost for Obinna, whose comedy show follows his birthday on 6 June.
