Nominated senator, Gloria Orwoba, has opened up about how her passion for politics grew and gained momentum, her love life and marriage, but also hinted at how her love story is linked to a Ghanaian.

Speaking on TV47’s ‘Mfamhu Kiongozi’, Orwoba explained that her inspiration to enter politics began in 2002 when she was in Form Two.

She was one of the few girls who had a keen eye on Kenyan politics, during which Uhuru Kenyatta was making his first attempt at running for president.

Later, after finishing high school, she fell in love with a man, whom she said was a foreigner living in Kenya, and later they left Kenya together.

“Love took me outside the country. The first time I moved abroad, I went to the Netherlands for a job. Later, I returned to Kenya and met a guy, he confused me with love, and my heart nodded. We lived together here in Kenya before leaving after he secured a job outside Kenya. Also, he was not Kenyan, and that’s how love took me outside Kenya,” Orwoba revealed.

Orwoba said that she stayed outside Kenya for about 5 years before returning to Kenya and formally venturing into politics.

Regarding the relationship, if it still exists, the senator avoided discussing it directly but hinted that at some point there was a dispute, but later everything was resolved.

“It was 2019 when I formally told my husband that it's time I return home and venture into 2022 politics. He was hesitant at first, but later he allowed me to return with my firstborn son. He could later join us in Kenya.”

“To some point, I can say he supported my political bid, but then it reached a point where our priorities couldn’t align. So there was some bit of push and pull, but at the end things settled and now here we are. On whether I’m still searching for love, NO. mimi nilitoka kwa soko kitambo. I belong to someone else,” she added.

The two-time mom also addressed the rumors of her being linked romantically to Ghana. Orwoba admitted that the father of her child is of Ghanaian origin, but denied any links to the former president of the West African country.

“About me being linked to Ghana, that’s the country where I attended my studies, I’ve worked in Ghana, I have relatives in Ghana, my child is half Ghanaian. So Ghana is like my second home.”

“The former president remains the former president of Ghana, People have also seen me with Obasanjo from Nigeria, how come they don’t link me with him. I even have pictures with Prince Harry, why don’t people say that I’m linked to him romantically?” she questioned.

Orwoba insisted that her personal life is hers, but reiterated that Ghana will remain like her second home as her son has roots there.
