
Geoffrey Mosiria, the Chief Officer for Environment in Nairobi County, has been named Kenya’s Best Chief Officer at the prestigious StarLeaders Awards, hosted by Politrack Africa Ltd at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi.
The award recognises Mosiria’s exceptional leadership and dedication to environmental conservation, sustainable waste management, and innovative green initiatives that have significantly transformed Nairobi’s environmental landscape.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mosiria dedicated the recognition to the people of Nairobi, stressing that their support, commitment, and collaboration have been instrumental in achieving environmental progress.
He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Johnson Sakaja for his unwavering support in championing environmental policies and acknowledged the entire Nairobi County environment team for their relentless efforts in implementing key projects and initiatives.

Under Mosiria’s leadership, Nairobi has made remarkable strides in waste management, noise pollution control, green space restoration, and environmental education programmes aimed at fostering a culture of sustainability among residents.
The StarLeaders Awards celebrate exemplary leadership and outstanding service delivery by public servants across the country. Mosiria’s recognition as the top Chief Officer highlights his commitment to transforming Nairobi into a model city for environmental sustainability.
This achievement also reflects his dedication to being an exemplary public servant.
In early March 2025, Mosiria revealed that he does not consume alcohol. Speaking during a Q&A segment with Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi, the father of three shared that he made a personal decision to quit drinking, stating, "I do not drink alcohol because there is no nutritional value in it."
When asked about his favourite Kenyan artists, Mosiria responded, "My favourites are the young men who sang 'Anguka Nayo' (WadaglizKE)."
