About the Global Changemakers Summit

The Global Changemakers Summit, organized under the Project 100 initiative, serves as a platform to unite global visionaries, policymakers, and innovators for thought-provoking discussions, idea exchange, and recognition of individuals driving impactful change in their communities.
The Global Changemakers Award was first launched in India in 2021 to honor the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr. Since then, it has been held in Nepal (2022), Bangladesh (2023), and Thailand (2024). This year’s edition in Malaysia marked the fifth summit, drawing hundreds of influential leaders from around the world.
During the event, keynote speaker Dr. Ramesh Bhattarai praised the awardees for their dedication to making a difference.
"The world needs ethical leaders who can inspire change at both community and global levels. Refigah Heviweit's work in promoting the creative economy, culture, and leadership is commendable, and we are honored to celebrate his contributions today," Dr. Bhattarai remarked.
A Leader in the Creative Economy
Refigah’s recognition at the Project 100 Global Change Makers Summit further cements his influence in leadership and the creative economy worldwide. He is set to deliver keynote addresses at several major international events, including:
- National Council for Arts and Culture Summit in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 3
- Omniverse Summit in Accra, Ghana, on May 7
- Biennial Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 2

From Showbiz to Leadership
Refigah stepped away from the entertainment industry three years ago after successfully founding and running Grandpa Records, a continentally recognized music label, for over 15 years.
He transitioned from being an artist to a music producer in 2007 and went on to work with some of Africa’s biggest stars, including Wyre, Sauti Sol, DNA, Kenrazy, Dufla, Mejja, Cindy Sanyu, and Amileena.
His legacy in the entertainment industry, combined with his ongoing efforts in mentorship and leadership, continues to shape the creative economy in Africa and beyond.
