The legal fraternity has joined hands to mourn the death of Senior Counsel Judy Thongori.

Thongori passed away on Tuesday after a short illness. Her death was confirmed by the Chair, Senior Counsel Bar Fred Ojiambo.

According to a statement by Ojiambo, Thongori was recently taken ill and was flown to India for emergency treatment, but she died on Tuesday evening due to ensuing medical complications.

In a heartfelt tribute, Ruto expressed his sorrow over the loss, noting her contributions would be remembered for generations to come.

According to the head of state, Thongori’s dedication to family law and human rights “touched many lives and left a lasting impact on our society."

Chief Justice Martha Koome, on her part, said she received with profound sadness the news of the passing of “my dear friend and senior counsel”, one of Kenya’s most distinguished legal practitioners.

Rarieda MP Otiende Omollo on his part said he was saddened to learn of the sudden demise Thongori. “May her soul know eternal peace,” he wrote.
