Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi came alive on December 19 and 21, 2024, as SolFest, organized by Kenya’s beloved band Sauti Sol, delivered a spectacular night of music, culture, and celebration. 

Despite Nairobi's rainy and chilly weather, over 18,000 fans braved the elements to witness this highly anticipated Concert.

SolFest once again cemented its reputation as a must-attend festival, blending rich cultural sounds with the energetic beats of urban Kenya.

The festival seamlessly blended two powerful genres - Rhumba and Arbantone, creating a vibrant platform for seasoned artists and rising stars alike. From nostalgic classics to contemporary anthems, SolFest delivered a night to remember.

The Rhumba Generation Shines

The evening kicked off with a celebration of Kenya's vibrant Rhumba roots, headlined by Sauti Sol and an impressive lineup of legendary and rising stars. Performers like Les Wanyika and Suzanna Owiyo brought nostalgia to life, while younger acts such as Bensoul, Nvirii the Storyteller, and Wanavokali added their contemporary twists. Watendawili, Vijana Barubaru, Yaba, and Charisma kept the crowd swaying, proving that Rhumba is alive and thriving across generations.

Just like last year, the 2024 SolFest was divided into two- with a VIP show going down on December 19 while the Fans Show happened on December 21 – attracting one of the biggest crowd witnessed at a Kenyan concert.

Arbansol Collective Brings the Heat

In a bold move to showcase Nairobi's urban music scene, SolFest introduced the Arbansol collective - a fusion of the city’s finest urban talent. Acts like Tipsy Gee, Sean MMG, Ssaru, Maandy, and Ndovu Kuu turned up the energy with their electrifying performances.

The crowd roared as Breeder LW, Boutross, and Ajay dropped crowd-favorites, while YBW Smith, Fathermoh, and Dyna Cods kept the vibe dynamic.

A Platform for Young Stars

True to its spirit of inclusivity, SolFest gave young and upcoming artists a platform to shine.

The festival effortlessly merged the soulful Rhumba rhythms with the hard-hitting beats of Arbantone, creating a melting pot of musical brilliance.

The Electric Atmosphere

The sound quality and stage design were top-tier, setting new standards for live performances in Kenya. Fans were mesmerized by the synergy between the performers and the technical team, who ensured that every note and beat resonated perfectly across Uhuru Gardens. Despite the rain, the energy remained high, with the crowd dancing under umbrellas and ponchos, creating an almost magical atmosphere.

Motif the Don and Coco EM Steal the Show

At exactly 1:31 am, Award-winning Producer Motif the Don took over the SolFest Stage for the grand finale.

Motif who is regarded to as the father of Arbantone, played a mix of Gengetone and Arbantone tunes to the excitement of the crowd.

Later Coco EM took over pulsating beats and seamless transitions had the crowd in a frenzy, ending the night on an unforgettable high.

Their set was a testament to Kenya’s growing prowess in DJ culture, leaving everyone eager for the next SolFest edition.
