
Television (TV) remains the top source of information among Kenyans, a survey by InfoTrak has revealed.
The survey by Info Trak reveals that 67 per cent of Kenyans trust TV as their main source of information.
It is followed by
Radio at 54 per cent and Social Media at 50 per cent.According to Info Trak, the regions where TV remained their top source of information, were the Coast region leads at 64 per cent, North Eastern at 59 per cent, Eastern at 70 per cent, Central at 70 per cent, Rift Valley at 68 per cent, Western at 62 per cent, Nyanza at 59 per cent and Nairobi at 77 per cent.
According to the poll, newspapers came in fourth with nine per cent and word of
mouth through friends and family as a source of information was the last resort to
Kenyans with four per cent of the citizens opting for it.
The survey took place on 16th - 30th November 2024 with a sample size of 2400 respondents.
The quantitative survey had a margin of error of +2% at a 95 per cent degree of confidence.
The data was processed and analysed using SPSS 26 Statistical software due to its high accuracy and reliability.
The relevant section of the public that was targeted in the survey (i.e. the universe) was persons who were 18 years old and above at the time of the survey
The survey covered all the 47 counties in the 8 regions.
To ensure the survey findings were representative of the Kenyan,18+ years population, the distribution of the survey sample across the 47 counties was proportionately allocated.
As such Rift Valley region took the highest sample with the North Eastern region taking the least sample.
A three-pronged approach involving desk research, quantitative
interviews, and qualitative key informant interviews and focus group
discussions was adopted.
