Bonfire Adventures Managing Director Sarah Mtalii, formerly known as Sarah Kabu, recently opened up about the emotional journey behind her new name and how her son has adapted to the family changes following her split from Simon Kabu.

In a heartfelt moment during an event organized by her Virtuous Women Foundation, Sarah broke down in tears as she explained the origin of the name "Mtalii," which holds deep significance for her.

A video shared online captured the emotional moment, showing Sarah pausing her speech, covering her face as she fought back tears, and receiving comfort from women in the audience who came to the stage to support her.

Inspiration Behind the Name

Sarah revealed that her son was the driving force behind her adopting the name "Mtalii."

She explained that after moving into their new home following the separation, her son gave every member of the family a new name, including her.

"The brand name Sarah Mtalii holds a special place in my heart and journey because my son inspired it," she said.

"Children have a unique way of staying inspired, even in the most challenging circumstances."

Sarah recalled how her son reacted when she told him he would now be the man of the house. Despite his young age, he accepted the change with maturity and grace.

"After we relocated to our new home, I told my son he would be the man of the house. I was amazed by how he embraced it. As a child, he observes and learns to navigate family changes," she shared.

Sarah further revealed that her son’s decision to give the family the name "Mtalii" was intentional.

"He christened me Sarah Mtalii because he did not want to hear the name Kabu again," she explained.

The businesswoman officially dropped the name Kabu as part of her efforts to move forward after parting ways with Simon Kabu, the father of her two children.

Simon's Previous Remarks

While Sarah has been candid about her journey, Simon has remained largely quiet about their separation.

However, in a Facebook video shared on December 5, the businessman recounted how he and Sarah started Bonfire Adventures.

Simon disclosed that they co-own the company on a 50:50 basis and recalled how their business empire began.

"We started from scratch, organizing a team-building getaway at Lukenya in Machakos County for an online young professional group we were part of. After that, we got a gig to organize a team-building exercise for a local bank," he shared.

The bank’s payment prompted them to officially register their company, setting the stage for what would become one of Kenya's most successful travel agencies.

Despite the ongoing drama, Simon assured fans that their business operations remain unaffected.

"Bonfire Adventures will continue operating normally despite the current situation," he stated.
