Police are investigating five separate murder incidents reported across the country.

The first incident was reported in Juja, Kiambu County where a man identified as Alex Kalului was allegedly killed in a fight between two groups.

Kalului was a gardener at a homestead in the area and had been on a drinking spree with his friends at the Mwireri area when a fight broke out on Wednesday night.

Police said the argument and fight was prompted over the English Premier League.

This went physical and Kalului was left unconscious. He was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

The body was moved to General Kago Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Sondu, Kericho County a body of a man was found on the roadside near a sugarcane plantation after suspected murder.

Police said the incident happened in Tabaita area within Minet village on November 19.

The body of Victor Kimutai, 26, was found on the roadside with marks of murder.

The body had injuries on the back of his head and the scene had blood a sign of struggle, police said.

He was last seen the previous day after leaving a neighbour's house in the company of his friend who was later arrested for interrogation, police said.

The body was moved to Sigowet Subcounty General Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

In Thika, Kiambu County, a man died after allegedly being clobbered by his friends in a fight.

Police said George Mureithi, 39, died while undergoing treatment at Thika Level Five Hospital after the assault on November 13.

He died a week later of the injuries, police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had earlier reported having been assaulted by two persons known to him and was advised to seek medication but never returned.

A suspect was later arrested over the incident as the hunt for the second one goes on, police said.

A slasher suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered from the house of the suspect.

In Kimilili, Bungoma County, a 35-year-old woman identified by police as Eunice Wanjala, also known as Winny, was found lying unconscious in her home.

Police said she had a deep-cut wound on the back of her head and soft tissue injuries on her neck.

She was rushed to Kimilili Subcounty Hospital for initial treatment and later referred to Dreamland Mission Hospital for specialised care before being transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police said they are yet to know who was behind the murder and the motive.

The body is lying at the mortuary pending an autopsy of the November 20 incident.

In Ndhiwa, Homabay County, police are investigating a murder in an incident where a group fought over claims of being thieves.

One resident was hacked and died in hospital in the confrontation in Nyakwere village.

A suspect was detained in the probe into the incident, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, police said.

Cases of murder are on the rise amid calls on parties to solve their differences amicably.
