After four and a half years helping shape Dairyland’s brands and marketing agenda, Milan Kibata is preparing to close a defining chapter in her career, leaving behind a body of work spanning brand transformations, product innovation and consumer engagement.

Her journey into marketing was anything but conventional.

At Dairyland, Milan’s tenure was defined by a willingness to push the boundaries of how a heritage brand could show up in culture, connect with consumers and reinvent itself. Her work spanned bold product innovations, culturally resonant campaigns and brand transformations that gave consumers new reasons to experience familiar favourites.

Among the defining moments was Kuoga na Kurudi Soko, the chocolate rebrand that brought renewed energy to the category, alongside the introduction of Dairyland’s first vegan and lactose-free ice cream, expanding the brand’s offering to consumers seeking different ways to enjoy the treat.

She also helped champion a more culturally connected approach to marketing, creating campaigns that travelled beyond traditional advertising into conversations, shared experiences and viral moments. From the playful energy of Ice cream on a Mkokoteni ,in the New Drip, Same Dazzle Campaign, the work sought to make the brand feel less like something consumers simply purchased and more like something they could connect to.

Perhaps one of the most distinctive expressions of this approach was Blackish, a black peppermint chocolate ice cream that challenged conventional expectations of what ice cream could look like. Brought to life through the One of One campaign, the product embraced mystery, individuality and the unexpected, turning a product launch into an experience built around curiosity and discovery. Meanwhile, Sip It Loud marked Dairyland’s entry into drinking chocolate, extending the brand into a new consumption occasion.

Beyond the campaigns and commercial results, the experience shaped Milan’s understanding of leadership, collaboration and the role of marketing in building brands that remain relevant to consumers.

Reflecting on her time at Dairyland, Milan sees the end of this chapter as an opportunity to embrace growth beyond the familiar.

“Sometimes, the next stage of growth requires you to step beyond what you have spent years building. Dairyland has been an important part of my journey, and I leave with valuable lessons, meaningful relationships and work I am proud to have contributed to.”

As Milan prepares for the transition, her story is a reminder that careers are not always linear, and that professional growth can come from the willingness to learn, take risks and recognise when it is time to move forward.

For Milan, one chapter is coming to an end. The next is already be

ginning to take shape.
