The race may have been about beating personal bests, but for many participants at this year’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, the fun did not stop at the finish line.

Friends reunited, running crews celebrated their achievements, and strangers shared stories of the miles they had just conquered.

At the heart of these post-race moments was Gordon’s, bringing people together for a feel-good celebration beyond the course.

As recreational running continues to attract more Kenyans, the marathon has become about more than times, medals and the distance covered.

It is also about the friendships built during training, the personal challenges overcome and the shared joy of finally crossing that finish line. For many runners, the finish line is not the end of the experience, it is where a different kind of celebration begins.

Gordon’s tapped into this spirit through its Refresh & Reset Arena, creating a space where runners and their friends could come together, unwind and enjoy the social side of race day. From playful moments to conversations and shared laughter, the experience was about celebrating the people behind the race and the connections that make such occasions memorable.

“Running is a personal journey, but race day reminds us how much better the experience can be when it is shared. We saw friends show up for one another, running crews celebrate the miles they had put in together, and people make new connections along the way. That is the kind of energy Gordon’s wanted to be part of,” said Lillian Mbugua, Brand Manager for Gordon’s.

After the Race, Gordon’s Brought the Real Vibes to the Nairobi StanChart Marathon

She added, “For us, showing up at the marathon was about more than being present at an event. It was about contributing to the atmosphere and creating moments people could enjoy together. The race brought the effort, the friendships, laughter and shared celebrations brought the vibes. We wanted Gordon’s to be part of those moments when people could pause, connect and celebrate what they had achieved.”

The growing popularity of recreational running is changing how people experience events like the Nairobi Marathon. Some runners come chasing a personal best, others are taking on their first race, while many simply want to challenge themselves alongside friends. Whatever brings them to the starting line, the experience often extends well beyond the finish.

For Gordon’s, the opportunity lies in showing up in spaces where people are already connecting and creating experiences that make those connections even more memorable.

Because after the training, the early mornings and the race-day effort, there is still room for good company, shared stories and a little more fun.
