Controversial singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has hit back hard at critics attacking gospel musician Mercy Masika over her upcoming "Becoming a Wife Master Class," telling naysayers to mind their own business in a fiery video recorded on her social media pages.
Masika, who has been happily married to her husband David Muguro since 2008, recently stirred a heated online debate after announcing a seven-session online masterclass tailored to guide women on building biblical, peaceful marriages.

The announcement triggered immediate backlash across social media platforms, with critics questioning why the burden of relationship cultivation falls solely on women and complaining about the class fees.
Why Are People Attacking Mercy Masika?
In her candid social media video, Akothee came to Masika’s defense, arguing that the gospel star has every right to share her wisdom because she has successfully walked the talk.
Weighing in on the uproar, she fired shots at internet critics, candidly labeling herself and other struggling individuals as "rejects of marriage" who have a lot to learn from those who have successfully sustained long-term unions.
"Yes!! Why are all women going after Mercy Masika’s project about being a good wife?" Akothee posed in the viral clip, questioning the heavy online outrage.
"I think Mercy Masika has been a wife to one man all her life, and what she knows is about being a good wife, and she wants to share with some of you who are rejects of marriage—including me here."

If You Are Not the Target Audience, Shut Up
Akothee further argued in the recording that social media users should practice selective consumption rather than attacking projects that do not appeal to them.
She pointed out that critics shouting about the masterclass pricing should simply step aside if they are not the intended target audience.
"And if you are not the target audience, why are you being barbaric and outraged with someone else's project?" she continued in the video. "You are talking about she's charging this, she's charging that—if you are not the target audience, shut up!! Let people be, let people do their things. I mean, you come into social media and pick what is good for you, yeah?"
Marriage Is a Stage in Life, Not the Ultimate Success
The mother of five also offered a nuanced view on marriage in her video post, acknowledging that while a wedding certificate is not the ultimate measure of a person's success, building a stable home is an admirable feat. She noted that many individuals secretly yearn for healthy partnerships while some men are suffering in toxic environments, making mentorship valuable.
"Some of us wish we could get good husbands to be good wives... But marriage is not actually the measure of success, but it's a stage in life," Akothee reflected. "Some of us are marriage rejects, but we admire those who are in good marriages. There are some men suffering in the hands of bad women. Let Mercy Masika be, baby girl, go on with your project."
