Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is in Ethiopia to attend the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa.

The event brings together continental leaders, policymakers and security experts to discuss peace and stability across the continent.

Kindiki arrived at Bahir Dar Dejazmach Belay Zeleke International Airport on Saturday morning, where he was received by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed ahead of the three-day forum scheduled to run from October 23 to 25, 2026.

The annual gathering provides a platform for African leaders and experts to deliberate on security challenges facing the continent and explore approaches to strengthening regional cooperation.

This year’s forum is expected to focus on issues including peace, economic sovereignty and regional stability, as African countries grapple with conflicts, political instability and emerging security threats.

Kindiki’s attendance places Kenya among the countries participating in discussions aimed at finding African-led responses to the continent’s security challenges.

The DP’s visit also comes amid ongoing efforts by African governments to strengthen cooperation on shared security concerns and promote homegrown solutions to conflicts affecting the continent.
