EACC Vice Chairperson Monica Wanjiru Muiru during the summit

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has highlighted asset recovery as a way of demonstrating accountability and rebuilding public trust in institutions.

EACC Vice Chairperson Monica Wanjiru Muiru said recovering assets acquired through corruption and restoring them for public benefit can help strengthen confidence in public institutions.

Muiru represented the Commission at the Trust Summit 2026 – Nairobi Dialogue on Global Trust, held from October 21 to 23 at Glee Hotel, Nairobi.

Speaking during the Leadership Baraza session, titled “Standing on Solid Ground of Democratic Values” and moderated by Janet Mbugua, Muiru cited the Commission’s asset recovery efforts as an example of translating integrity commitments into tangible outcomes for the public.

She also urged delegates to take personal responsibility in combating corruption, saying building an ethical society requires action from both institutions and individuals.

The EACC welcomed the summit’s focus on rebuilding public trust through accountable leadership, credible institutions and practical commitments.

The Commission said the initiative provides an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and promote shared responsibility for integrity in public life.
