Women’s representation in Kenya’s political leadership rose from three female governors in 2017 to seven in the 2022 General Election, according to political analyst David Manyoo. Manyoo says women are increasingly breaking traditional barriers that confined them to supporting political campaigns rather than contesting elective seats. However, he cautions that increased representation does not necessarily guarantee equal influence in political parties and decision-making positions.
